The Finn Wardman World Explorer Fund · About
The cost of a defining experience should never decide who gets to go.
Built on a dream. Powered by Finn.
The Finn Wardman World Explorer Fund makes grants of $5,000 to $10,000 to young people aged 18 to 26 with a real opportunity in front of them. An expedition, an unfunded dream, a once-in-a-lifetime apprenticeship, a 6-month language course — and money as the only thing in the way. We were founded in memory of Finn Wardman, and our goal is 150 defining dreams that change the course of a life, funded by 2036.
We are a registered US 501(c)(3) nonprofit, EIN 42-2773838. Donations are tax-deductible in the United States.
Why we exist
Our mission.
The cost of a defining experience should never decide who gets to go. The Finn Wardman World Explorer Fund backs young people aged 18 to 26 at the moment a real opportunity is in front of them and money is the only thing in the way.
The work
What we do.
We make grants of $5,000 to $10,000, paid directly toward the cost of the experience: an expedition, a mountain or ocean trip, a once-in-a-lifetime apprenticeship, a course that leads somewhere real. We fund the trip, the training, or the athletic pursuit. We are a small, nimble team not bogged down with administration. Applications are read by people, decisions come fast, and every funded trip becomes a story we tell on the blog and the podcast. Our goal: 150 defining dreams that change the course of a life, funded by 2036, and a fund that grows in perpetuity.
In his memory
Who Finn was.
Finn Wardman grew up between Bermuda and Switzerland, skied the steep stuff in Verbier, surfed whenever there was a coast within reach, and was the joy and light of our world. He spent the last day of his life surfing with his brother and laughing with his besties. He died in April 2023, at twenty. This fund exists so that other young people get to go live the kind of days Finn filled his life with.
